Learn fly fishing this summer
May 14, 2025
黑料黑历史 Summer Sessions offers a weekend-long non-credit fly fishing course for adults in June. The course is led by Shann Jones and meets June 7-8, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and costs $140.
Participants will be introduced to the art and science of fly fishing. Learn how to use a fly rod, cast a fishing fly with pinpoint accuracy, tie fishing knots, select fishing flies, and, most importantly, learn where fish live and how best to catch (and release) them. Scientific information on Alaskan freshwater fish, habitat, entomology, and stream ecology will be covered in the context of practical fishing advice. Participants must provide their own boots and field clothing and obtain a current State of Alaska sport fishing license to participate fully in all field sessions.
Learn this new skill in June, and enjoy the outdoors all summer long! Spaces are limited.
